About the DJ

I was born and raised in Panama, Central America where the music reflects the rich multi-cultural influences and traditions of the people who live there. Popular music includes a hybrid of traditional Caribbean island sounds mixed with Spanish and African influences, among others, resulting in what is known today as reggae, calypso, soca and salsa. Added to the musical mix is the deep love of American R&B heard throughout the country. 

I have been fortunate to have been surrounded by music all of my life. When I left Panama I moved to New York City where I was happy to discover that the music I grew up with was prominently played and enjoyed there. When I left New York, I began a musical odyssey across the US discovering new musical sounds such as soft rock, hip hop and country-western music, as I went . I am convinced that my appreciation of all musical styles is based on a combination of an innate love of music and exposure to a variety of cultures and their music.

I like all good music. I also like people. What I have learned in my career as a musician and event promoter is how people react to different types of music. Music can set a mood, change a vibe and make people move. The ability to create just the right balance of energy and relaxation, to judge a crowd and create the right ambiance for any occasion is what I bring to the party.

I set the bar high when it comes to professionalism. This means that punctuality, respect for clients and their guests, are not options, but absolutes. I earned an MBA in 2006 because this is not a hobby for me, but a business that I take seriously.

My extensive professional collection consists of a range of music that includes, but is not limited to American old-school and contemporary soul and R&B, Caribbean and Latin rhythms, classic and contemporary hip-hop, pop, rock, country and western, gospel, and jazz. When you choose It's About Time Productions for your event, I can create and provide a complete custom playlist for you once I know generally what you enjoy, or you can let me know exactly what songs you want to hear. It is all up to you.
